Authenticity and verification
Why a Document Cannot Be Its Own Identity Witness
A file can carry a claimed signer name, but independent identity assurance requires evidence outside the claim being evaluated.
The practical test
Ask what evidence was checked, which algorithm and key were used, whether identity was independently bound to the key, whether time came from a trusted authority, and whether current revocation or supersession status was queried.
A result that was not checked must remain amber or neutral. It must not inherit a green state from a different layer.
Universal Document boundary
UD can carry canonical integrity evidence and related trust material. Integrity alone does not establish authorship, identity, trusted time, legal effect, factual correctness, current status or independent consensus.
