Authenticity and verification
What Does Document Verification Actually Prove?
It can establish specific technical facts—such as structure, exact-state integrity and signature validity—while leaving identity, time, status and content truth as separate questions.
The practical test
Ask what evidence was checked, which algorithm and key were used, whether identity was independently bound to the key, whether time came from a trusted authority, and whether current revocation or supersession status was queried.
A result that was not checked must remain amber or neutral. It must not inherit a green state from a different layer.
Universal Document boundary
UD can carry canonical integrity evidence and related trust material. Integrity alone does not establish authorship, identity, trusted time, legal effect, factual correctness, current status or independent consensus.
