Why Document Verification Needs Layers
Structure, integrity, signature, identity, time and current status answer different questions and should never collapse into one green badge.
The practical test
Ask what evidence was checked, which algorithm and key were used, whether identity was independently bound to the key, whether time came from a trusted authority, and whether current revocation or supersession status was queried.
A result that was not checked must remain amber or neutral. It must not inherit a green state from a different layer.
